The name syncopated hustle is taking from the classic work of James Baldwin, “Fire Next Time.” Baldwin shares that while living in Harlem everyone needed a hustle and his hustle was church. It was church that kept him alive though he ended up having major tension with Christianity.
In much of the same way church has become my hustle; it has kept me alive and motivated me for the last 18 years. Though, I may have some of the the same tensions with Christianity as Baldwin; I am deeply connected/committed with the life of Christ.
Thus I try to syncopate my life with that of the Messiah…therein syncopating my hustle to a grand groove.
